Some Emerging Opportunities of Nanotechnology Development for Soilless and Microgreen Farming

Global food demand has increased in tandem with the world’s growing population, prompting calls for a new sustainable agricultural method. The scarcity of fertile soil and land have also become major concerns. Soilless microgreen farming combined nanotechnology may provide revolutionary solution as well more productive alternative to conventional farming. In this review, we look at potential soilless available but limited approaches include: (1) Nutrients nanoparticles minimize nutrient losses improve uptake bioavailability crops; (2) nano-sensing real-time detection p H, temperature, quantifying amount nutrient, allowing desired conditions control; (3) incorporation quality substrate culture crop cultivation medium. Meanwhile, applications Plant trait improvement against environmental disease stress through nanomaterial application; plant nanobionics alter or function tissue organelle; extending shelf life microgreens by impregnating on packaging other preservation
